The brand was established in 1973 in London. Its creators Nitin, Arun and Milan Shah began to manufacture and sell custom jeans in a cult nonformal spot called Potobello. A short and significant name was chosen for their trademark. Orientation on modern and fashionable young people was typical for the company from the start. Today Pepe Jeans manufactures denim wear as well as knitwear, sweaters, t-shirts, coats, trousers, shirts, skirts, hats, bags, shoes and fashion accessories.
A characteristic feature of P.Jeans brand is a tendency to be ahead of one's time. The brand's advertising campaign was one of the first jobs for Kate Moss. Besides, Letitia Casta, Sienna Miller, Natalia Vodyanova, Ashton Catcher, Fernando Tison Balu and Christiano Ronaldo and many other celebrities took part in advertising campaigns for P. Jeans. Sienna Miller even designed denim collection autumn-winter 2007/08 by P.Jeans. Famous photographers like Bruce Weber, Steven Misel and Mikael Jansson have also contributed to the success of the brand's advertising campaigns.
